Sup party people!
I rebuilt my USC shocks successfully last week replacing the stock O-rings with Kyosho's grooved O-rings.
-Used the AE shock tool, customized! (Using a dremel, I tapered the AE shock tool at the pointy end so that the Kyosho metal shock washer is slightly larger than the AE shock tool.)
-Carefully, remove the old O-rings using a 2mm "L" allen wrench popping out the metal washer.
-Using flat pliers, flatten out the metal washer, not fully flat.
-Clean the oil out of the shock body.
-Using the "customized" AE Shock tool as intended, place the new O-rings and existing spacers on the AE shock tool as follow.
~Metal washer
~black thin plastic spacer and add AE Green slime
~add a 0.2mm plastic shim(be creative), add AE Green slime
~Grooved O-ring, add AE Green slime
~black thick plastic spacer, add AE Green slime
~Grooved O-ring, and yup, you guessed it....add AE Green slime.
Then, for good measure, douse the outer assembly with AE Green slime
Finally, press the assembly back into the shock body the same process as re-building the AE shocks. Slide out the AE shock tool and use a small flashlight to check if the metal washer snapped in. (Might take a few trys but once you get the hang of it, the other 3 shocks will be a snap.)
If you succeed, make sure you clean the excess AE Green slime inside the shock body before adding the shaft/piston, oil, etc.
